When I think of Milwaukee, I think of beer, cheese and Tyson Reeder.

The Green Gallery East, Milwaukee, WI

I also think of The Green Gallery, which has been showing an amazing roster of artists since 2009. After following them online for many years -and always being in town on Mondays- I was finally able to see the space in person. Best gallery exterior – hands down.

Installation view of Tyson Reeder’s show “TV Dinner”

Landscape with Fruit, 2015. Mixed media on canvas

Polish Falcons, 2015. Mixed media on canvas

An ode to The Polish Falcons, a drinking and bowling institution in the Riverwest neighborhood. One of my favorite bars in Milwaukee. The chip selection is top drawer.

Yellow Mannequins, 2015. Mixed media on linen

There is surfing here in Milwaukee, and from what I hear it’s “mellow”.  This knock-out painting by Mr. Reeder is far more radical than mellow. I suspect that the mannequin agrees.

Surfboards, 2015. Mixed media on canvas

Sammy’s Beach Road, 2015. Mixed Media on linen

An antidote to the impending doom of winter-the paintings in this show exude light. Soak it up and take it with you. Life’s a beach, even if there’s snow on it.

Thanks to the Green Gallery and Tyson Reeder for such a great show-Cheers!
